Don't worry about doing it perfectly. Your first yoga class is about showing up, breathing, and simply noticing how your body feels. That's it. The poses, the alignment, the flow all come with time and repetition.
Hatha-Vinyasa combines two things: the clarity of Hatha (learning poses properly, holding them, understanding what they do) and the rhythm of Vinyasa (linking movement to breath so the practice feels alive rather than static). It's a great starting point because it gives you both structure and flow.
Wear something comfortable you can move freely in. Bring water. Come a few minutes early so you can settle in. And if something feels wrong, just stop. A good teacher will always offer a gentler option.
Pose to try
Child's Pose (Balasana)
Kneel on your mat, bring your big toes together, sit back towards your heels, and stretch your arms forward. Let your forehead rest on the mat and breathe. This is your rest, your reset, and your safe place in every practice. Come back to it whenever you need to.
