Most adults over 40 who feel stiff do not lack information. YouTube has thousands of good mobility and yoga videos, and they cost nothing. What usually breaks the routine is the small decision every morning: which video, how long, is this my level, did I already do this one? When that decision feels like work, the session gets postponed, then skipped.
So the useful question is not "free or paid". It is "what will make me show up on day twelve?"
The four options, side by side
| Option | Cost | Session length | Order and progression | Personal feedback | Suits you if |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free videos, for example Yoga With Adriene | Free | You choose, 5 to 60 minutes | You build it, apart from some 30-day series | None | You already exercise regularly and enjoy choosing |
| Subscription apps, for example Glo or Pliability | Monthly fee. Glo: $30 a month or $245 a year | Filter by length and body area | Large library, some programs inside it | Usually none | You like variety and will open the app without a plan |
| Coached memberships, for example The Comeback Club | Monthly fee. Comeback Club: $49 a month | Short daily work plus live classes | Step-by-step plan | Live classes and form checks | You want a person involved and are happy with an ongoing fee |
| Fixed self-paced programs, for example Move Better | One payment. Move Better: €77 | About 10 to 15 minutes | One session a day, in order, with an end date | None, the sessions are pre-recorded | You need structure but not a schedule or a monthly bill |

When free videos are the right choice
Free videos work well if you already move most days, you know roughly what your body needs, and you enjoy picking a session. They are also a sensible way to try a style of practice before you pay for anything. The cost is not money but planning: you are the one who decides the order, the progression and when to make things harder.
When an app makes sense
Apps suit people who want choice inside one place: filters for time and body area, many teachers, music, reminders. The risk for beginners is the same as with free videos, only better organised. A library of thousands of classes still leaves you choosing every day.
Prefer to be guided? The 7-Day Move Better Reset is 7 short video sessions, 10 to 15 minutes a day, for €9.
Try the Reset for €9When a structured program helps most
A program with a fixed order is most useful when the problem is consistency, not knowledge. It tends to help if:
- you have started a routine two or more times in the past year and stopped within a few weeks;
- you do not know what to do for stiff hips, back or shoulders without searching;
- you want each week to build on the last, from mobility towards strength and balance;
- you like knowing when it ends.
Be honest about the limit: a pre-recorded program cannot see you. If you have pain, an injury or you want your form corrected, a live teacher or a physiotherapist is the better first step.
Live class or self-paced?
A live class gives you real-time cues, a fixed appointment and the company of a group. It is the better start if you are new to movement, returning after an injury, or unsure whether you are doing the movements safely. A self-paced program fits an irregular schedule, lets you repeat sessions as often as you like, and costs less per session. Many people combine the two: a weekly class to learn, short sessions at home to keep the habit going. If you live near Málaga, our outdoor classes are one way to do that.
Five questions to help you choose
- How many times have you started and stopped in the past year? Twice or more: choose structure over variety.
- Do you know what to do for your hips, back and shoulders? If not, choose something with a set order.
- Does a monthly fee motivate you or make you feel guilty? If it is guilt, choose a one-off price or free content.
- Do you need someone to check your form because of pain or an injury? If yes, start with a live teacher or a physiotherapist.
- How many minutes can you protect on a bad day? Pick sessions that length. Ten to fifteen minutes you actually do beats a 45-minute class you keep postponing.
What Move Better is, and what it is not
Move Better is an 8-week self-paced program for adults over 40 who feel stiff or sit a lot: five guided video sessions a week, about 10 to 15 minutes each, at home with a mat. It progresses from waking up the body to hips, core and back, then balance, strength and flowing sequences. It costs €77 once, with lifetime access, rather than a monthly fee.
It is pre-recorded. There are no live classes, no community group and no personal feedback, so it is not the right choice if you need someone watching your form.
If you are not sure a structured plan suits you, the 7-Day Move Better Reset is the first step on its own: seven guided sessions of 10 to 15 minutes for €9, and the €9 is credited if you continue with the full program.
Before you start
If you have joint pain, a recent injury, osteoporosis, a heart condition or you have not exercised for a long time, check with your doctor or a physiotherapist before starting a new routine, whichever option you choose.
