Mobility vs Flexibility: What Is the Difference?

Outdoor yoga practice focused on movement and stretching

Flexibility is how much passive range your body has. Mobility is how well you can control and use that range. You can be flexible without feeling mobile, and mobility is usually what helps daily life feel easier.

Flexibility

Flexibility is mostly about length. It is what people usually think about when they talk about stretching, touching their toes, or loosening tight muscles.

Mobility

Mobility adds control. It asks whether you can move into a range and stay strong there. That is why it matters so much for bending, reaching, squatting, balancing, and moving with confidence.

Why both matter

Flexibility without strength can feel unstable. Strength without flexibility can feel rigid. The most useful kind of movement practice develops both together, which is one reason yoga works so well for many adults.

If your goal is to move better in real life, mobility is often the more useful word to focus on.

If you want a routine that develops both, Move Better combines stretching, strength, and control instead of treating them as separate problems.
